Lab Support Technician I

About the role

The Lab Support Technician (LST I) is part of the provider care team, supporting reports, data, and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position requires providing accurate, timely, and effective laboratory support.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, timely, and effective laboratory support.
• Exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with Mercy Signature Service during all internal and external customer interactions.
• Acquire laboratory specimens using safe, accurate, and effective methods while adhering to HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies.
• Process, transport, and refer all types of laboratory specimens and reports as needed.
• Be observed by laboratory management or designee and complete all departmental checklists for the LST I position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• Preferred: College level Chemistry, Biology, or other Science courses.
• Preferred: Previous experience in a clinical laboratory.
