About the role
The Lab Support Technician (LST I) is part of the provider care team, supporting reports, data, and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position requires providing accurate, timely, and effective laboratory support.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, timely, and effective laboratory support.
- Exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with Mercy Signature Service during all internal and external customer interactions.
- Acquire laboratory specimens safely, accurately, effectively, and professionally, adhering to HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies.
- Process, transport, and refer all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required.
- Be observed by laboratory management or designee and complete all departmental checklists for the LST I position to achieve competencies.
- Perform duties and responsibilities consistently with Mercy's mission, values, and Service Standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma, G.E.D., or enrollment in a healthcare career program through high school curriculum.
- Successful completion of probationary period.
- No active disciplinary actions or active performance improvement plans.
Qualifications
- College level Chemistry, Biology, or other Science courses preferred.
- Previous experience in a clinical laboratory preferred.
Skills
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Safe, accurate, and effective specimen acquisition methods.
- Compliance with HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies.
