Lab Supervisor II | North Lab | Full-time | Evenings

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the technical operations of the assigned cost center.
• Ensure accurate and timely laboratory services are provided to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures for assigned area.
• Ensure compliance with Shands Jacksonville Policies and Procedures.
• Provide supervision and leadership to the staff.
• Work closely with other supervisors to coordinate laboratory functions.
• Prepare and manage assigned cost center budget.
• Schedule staff and make workstation assignments.
• Work as a technologist when necessary.
• Ensure all regulatory, licensing and accreditation requirements are fulfilled for assigned areas.
• Perform all assigned duties in a caring and professional manner to serve as a model to create an environment where the patient and the customer are of primary importance.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree required, or Associate's Degree with at least 8 years relevant work experience in lieu of Bachelor's Degree. Master's Degree preferred.
• Necessary Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work well under pressure, appropriate computer skills, technically competent in assigned laboratory disciplines, understanding of laboratory regulatory issues.
• Licenses/Certifications: Active Florida license as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in assigned area within three (3) months of hire or transfer. National certification from ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) in assigned work areas preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Medical Technologist with a Supervisor license in Microbiology, Serology, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, and Immunohematology areas. Supervisor experience preferred.
• Supervisory Responsibility: Supervise 30 employees.
• Budgetary Responsibility: Budgetary responsibility for annual budget of $2,500,000.00.
• Age of Patients Served: All age groups.
