About the role
UMass Memorial Health is seeking a lab supervisor to oversee day-to-day operations in the laboratory section. The position involves managing staff, coordinating schedules, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of laboratory staff: makes recommendations on employee actions.
- Serves as a laboratory resource for advanced instrument repair/troubleshooting.
- Facilitates completion of validation studies for new equipment/assays.
- Develops and maintains procedures necessary to meet regulatory requirements.
- Ensures compliance with all laboratory quality and safety policies.
- Ensures all periodic instrument maintenance is performed.
- Serves as a laboratory resource for advanced instrument repair/troubleshooting.
- Provides guidance and appropriate follow-through to other staff members for complex or unusual test results.
- Serves as a laboratory resource for advanced instrument repair/troubleshooting.
- Facilitates completion of validation studies for new equipment/assays.
- Develops and maintains established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
- Ensures compliance to all health and safety regulations and requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree of science from an accredited college/university with a major in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Biological Science, or Chemistry.
- National certification as a generalist Medical Laboratory Technologist/Scientist, categorical in the specialty of the operation, or Specialist.
- 5 years clinical or anatomic laboratory experience.
- 1 year of experience in a clinical or anatomic leadership role.
- Knowledge of evaluation methodologies, data analysis, i.e., statistics, QC/proficiency testing, and analytic root cause analysis.
- Interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) needed to provide effective participative leadership and for successful communication with all levels of staff.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft products.
Qualifications

- Required: 5 years clinical or anatomic laboratory experience.
- Required: 1 year of experience in a clinical or anatomic leadership role.
- Preferred: Knowledge of evaluation methodologies, data analysis, i.e., statistics, QC/proficiency testing, and analytic root cause analysis.
- Preferred: Demonstrated proficiency with regulatory compliance processes, such as CAP and Joint Commission regulatory processes.
- Preferred: Demonstrated proficiency with laboratory information systems.
Skills

Benefits
The position offers competitive compensation and benefits, including a signing bonus for eligible candidates.
Pay
$31.31 - $142,480.00 per year, with the final offer varying based on experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, On Call - Required, Weekends (Saturday and Sunday) Scheduled Hours 40hrs/week, 1st shift flex 8am - 430pm, all campus locations Shift 1 - Day Shift, 8 Hours (United States of America) Hours 40
