Job Summary
Medical Laboratory Scientists analyze human blood, tissues, and body fluids. They oversee the performance of thousands of types of medical laboratory tests using a wide variety of precision instruments and manual methods. This position requires exercising independent judgment, correlating test results, and interpreting findings with respect to normal or abnormal ranges. Physicians rely on these scientists to produce reliable and valid results, which may be used in determining the presence, extent, and possible cause of disease.
Minimum Qualifications
- MT(ASCP) or MLS(ASCP) Certification or equivalent Scientist/Technologist level certification required.
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution required.
- Demonstrates above average ability in the application of the principles and applications of those analyses performed in the disciplines of Clinical Chemistry, Immunology, Blood Bank, Coagulation, Hematology, Clinical Microscopy and Microbiology.
- Shows high level of professional competence, discretion, and judgement.
Preferred Qualifications
- One to five years documented experience in one or more Clinical Lab disciplines may be acceptable with the understanding that such certification will be acquired within 6 months of employment.
