About the role
The Lab Specimen Processor (Temporary) position at Eurofins Scientific is a contract role scheduled Tuesday to Saturday from 10-7. This role requires the ability to handle and process specimens according to Boston Heart Diagnostics protocols.
Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, and record maintenance.
- Accurately and efficiently enter patient data and test information into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Verify samples are correctly labeled with patient identifiers, sample types, and within stability for requested tests.
- Operate automated equipment and accurately label patient samples.
- Pipette bodily fluid samples into aliquots of appropriate volume and sample type for their respective tests.
- Archive samples for storage and organize sample batches for testing.
- Prepare batches of samples for send-out testing.
- Handle problem resolution upon receiving information from the Customer Care team.
- Prepare outgoing tubes for shipment and distribute to other departments.
- Practice universal precaution techniques.
- Perform various ancillary tasks to maintain smooth operation of the Processing Area.
- Participate in cleaning, organizing, and restocking duties.
- Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and notify supervisors of shortages.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers and escalate issues impacting production or patient care.
Qualifications

Prior to Level II
- Manage issues and projects; resolve escalated problems appropriately.
- Demonstrate advanced understanding of laboratory operations, workflow, and troubleshooting.
Prior to Level III
- Provide leadership through coaching, mentoring, and directing team members.
- Ensure adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and workflows.
- Assist management in organizing, scheduling, and prioritizing daily workload.
- Serve as primary trainer for new staff and for retraining existing associates.
- Act as point of contact for questions or issues when Supervisors are unavailable.
- Collaborate with other departments and laboratory leadership to support efficient workflow.
- Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvement, organization, and efficiency.
Additional Skills Required
- Physical dexterity to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate manual and automated single and multichannel pipettes.
- Ability to speak and hear clearly to communicate with others.
- Continuous operation of a computer, analytical instrument, or liquid handling platform for extended periods.
- Mental acuity to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions.
