Lab Skills Assistant, Veterinary Technology

Job Description

Assists department with the students utilizing the Veterinary Technician training lab.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for set up and operation of the training lab
• Affords assistance to faculty with student-based Veterinary Technician projects
• Interacts with the industry advisory board
• Affords assistance to the faculty in evaluating student techniques for grades
• Collaborates with students and faculty to deliver courses
• Affords assistance with the maintenance and cleanliness of Veterinary Technician labs
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent)
• Registered Veterinary Technician
• Minimum one year of related experience

• Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Possesses excellent customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships
• Possesses the ability to diagnose and facilitate minor equipment repairs

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

• The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment
• The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated
• Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type
• However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.
• Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite

Special Note

This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, Grade 08, with a Minimum Hiring Rate of: $20.00/ hour.
