About the Role
Performs computer entry and pre-analytical processing of specimens entering the lab. Provides timely and courteous results and inquiry information to providers for routine questions.
Responsibilities
- Perform pre-analytical specimen processing, including stamping in, verifying I.D., identifying tests, and evaluating specimen quality and appropriate test set-up.
- Perform computer order entry and inquiry functions.
- Provide courteous and timely customer service to providers calling into the lab.
- Perform, document, and evaluate daily QC and follow procedures when QC is out of range.
- Perform routine operation and maintenance of instrumentation in the work area, such as centrifuges, refrigerators, and freezers.
- Maintain workplace in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Continuously monitor specimen workflow and ensure quick response for STAT and other timed tests.
- Participate in departmental continuous improvement projects as necessary.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-based STEM discipline is preferred.
- 3 months of work experience.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 2:30pm – 11:00pm, including rotating weekends.
Pay
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
