About the role

We are seeking a self-motivated individual with a scientific background to join a laboratory management team. This role will support group leaders, platform leaders, and scientists. The position involves the management and maintenance of laboratory equipment and operations to ensure laboratory processes, equipment, documentation, and compliance activities run efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain lab instrumentation, including calibration and maintenance, coordinating with vendors and engineers as needed.
  • Manage implementation and user accounts for lab management software.
  • Provide instrument training to new users and train laboratory personnel on operational procedures and best practices.
  • Manage equipment and supply inventory for the laboratories, including ordering and coordinating delivery and installation.
  • Manage day-to-day laboratory safety and ensure the laboratory remains in compliance with all relevant regulations and internal procedures.
  • Develop, revise, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for laboratories.
  • Liaise with Facilities, Security, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) support teams, reporting and resolving issues within the physical laboratory space.
  • Maintain laboratory records, certifications, and compliance-related documentation.
  • Serve on committees relating to lab operations as appropriate.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives and operational projects.

Requirements

  • Education: A BS or MS in Biology, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or an equivalent field is required.
  • 2+ years of relevant lab management, laboratory operations, or laboratory coordination.
  • Hands-on experience working in a laboratory environment and experience handling chemicals.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, writing, or revising SOPs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting laboratory safety and compliance programs.
  • Experience tracking certifications or training records.
  • Experience coordinating vendors and service providers.
  • Experience supporting academic research, biotech, or life science organizations.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working around laboratory equipment and infrastructure, including compressed gases, incubators, and related laboratory systems.
