Lab Manager (MSN Required)
About the role
The Lab Manager manages on-campus labs for practical nursing and associate degree of nursing programs.
Responsibilities
- Manages the nursing on-campus lab, including lab set up and clean up, along with assistance from faculty and students
- Ensures lab is equipped and manikins are in working order
- Provides a safe lab environment, including developing safety processes and procedures
- Aids faculty instructors with on-campus lab activities, including evaluating students during skills check-off, creating modules for use with the manikins or related activities, and providing lab instruction/activities for the clinical day in absence of the instructor
- Researches and evaluates vendors and supply costs, and recommends best pricing
- Lables, records, and manages the inventory of lab equipment and supplies
- Edits students and faculty on the nursing laboratory, including manikins and related equipment
- Troubleshoots daily problems, such as failure of software, hardware, and manikin dysfunction
- Supervises practical and/or registered nurse students in on-campus labs
- Tutors referred students in order to enhance their lab skills
Requirements
- A Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN)
- At least three years full-time in the practice of nursing as a Registered Nurse or part-time equivalent
- Active Michigan RN license that has never been encumbered
- Current American Heart Association compliant Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- General Credentialing Requirements: Providing copies of official transcripts for all degrees earned, providing a copy of current American Heart Association BLS or ACLS CPR card, completion of a physical form (from within the last 12 months), immunization documentation for: Hepatitis B, MMRTDAP/Tetanus, TB (2 step), Varicella, FLU (October 1 – April 1 hires)
