About the role
The Woodward Lab at the Department of Psychology focuses on studying social cognition and social learning in infants and young children. Current projects explore the origins of social categories and biases, infants' understanding of morality and conventions, and how social environments influence social cognitive development.
Responsibilities
- Oversee communication with interested families and schedule study participants for both in-lab and online studies.
- Interact with families and children in-lab or via Zoom, conduct informed consent and debriefing procedures, and maintain laboratory safety procedures.
- Handle Institutional Review Board (IRB) business, including protocol creation and amendment, and continuing review submissions.
- Manage lab funds, including participant payments, ordering supplies, coordinating meetings, and making travel arrangements.
- Hire and supervise undergraduate and MAPSS research assistants, approve payroll, and handle lab-related issues to ensure smooth lab operations and adequate study coverage.
- May include grant management, assisting in applications, annual report submissions, subaward payouts, and budget preparation.
- Provide technical and administrative support for research projects, collect and enter data, assist in data analysis, prepare reports, and draft manuscripts.
Requirements
- Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships, or related work experience (not typically requiring a four-year degree).
- Experience in psychological and developmental research is preferred.
- Recent college graduates with RA experience are encouraged to apply.
- Experience working with infants and children is preferred.
- Experience with research grants and IRBs is preferred.
- Experience with budgets and supervising RA's is preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

- Exceptional problem-solving, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong Microsoft Office & Google Drive skills and ability to troubleshoot technology-related problems.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
