Lab Manager

Responsibilities

• Aid faculty in conducting experiments using relevant molecular biology techniques and translational models.
• Ensure physical and environmental conditions are suitable for research and maintain a safe environment.
• Prepare the laboratory for safety inspections.
• Maintain compliance with organizational policies, state, and federal laws.
• Manage laboratory organization and inventory, order and prepare laboratory chemicals, supplies, and consumables.
• Stay updated on laboratory equipment operation and maintenance, and coordinate with vendors and facilities for repairs.
• Serve as a liaison between the laboratory and other university departments.
• Participate in laboratory educational programs.
• Attend weekly lab meetings.
• Oversee the vivarium and animal facilities.
• Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Scholarship and Director of Finance to monitor the laboratory budget and service contracts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical sciences, or a closely related scientific field required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Experience working effectively in teams and individually.
• Knowledge of laboratory operations, safety standards, and research compliance procedures.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.
• Awareness of impact on others and commitment to personal growth.
• Proven ability to set and achieve goals with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
