Lab Manager
Responsibilities
- Aid faculty in conducting experiments using relevant molecular biology techniques and translational models.
- Ensure physical and environmental conditions are suitable for research and maintain a safe environment.
- Prepare the laboratory for safety inspections.
- Maintain compliance with organizational policies, state, and federal laws.
- Manage laboratory organization and inventory, order and prepare laboratory chemicals, supplies, and consumables.
- Stay updated on laboratory equipment operation and maintenance, and coordinate with vendors and facilities for repairs.
- Serve as a liaison between the laboratory and other university departments.
- Participate in laboratory educational programs.
- Attend weekly lab meetings.
- Oversee the vivarium and animal facilities.
- Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Scholarship and Director of Finance to monitor the laboratory budget and service contracts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical sciences, or a closely related scientific field required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Experience working effectively in teams and individually.
- Knowledge of laboratory operations, safety standards, and research compliance procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.
- Awareness of impact on others and commitment to personal growth.
- Proven ability to set and achieve goals with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
