About the role
The Favuzzi Lab Manager plays a central role in the day-to-day scientific and operational functioning of the laboratory. The position is divided across four areas: lab management and administration, animal colony management, the Lab Manager’s own independent research project, and experimental support for other projects and lab members.
Responsibilities
- Lab ordering, procurement, and inventory management
- Auxiliary with regulatory compliance, including IACUC protocol amendments and EHS requirements
- Onboarding and supervising students and postdocs
- Lab organization (including restocking, freezer maintenance, and keeping the lab space tidy and functional)
- Collaboration coordination
- Independent problem-solving
- General administrative support
- Managing the laboratory’s mouse colony (including breeding, genotyping, maintaining accurate records, and monitoring animal health)
- Carrying out research assignments for large or multi-faceted research projects, including independent research, experiments, and laboratory techniques

Requirements
- Demonstrated experience working in a Lab and working with mice
- Background in biological sciences
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders, including research staff, study sponsors, and collaborators
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritizing tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to perform independent research, analyze and interpret experimental data, and contribute to scientific reports and publications
- Ability to work well as part of a team, provide instruction and guidance, and contribute to the overall objectives of the research projects
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a scientific discipline and one year experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills
- Advanced Education: Master's degree or higher in a related scientific discipline with additional training or certifications in relevant fields
- Specialized Experience: Prior experience in a research setting, handling laboratory animals
- Data Management: Proficiency with data management tools, statistical analysis software, and database systems
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with regulatory compliance, biosafety protocols, and ethical guidelines for animal research
- Technical Competence: Ability to use and maintain specialized laboratory equipment and software
