Lab Manager 1

About the role

Oversee the day-to-day work in the Quality Assurance Laboratory based on guidance from the Process Engineering team and information gathered during daily production meetings. Monitor processes and ensure laboratory equipment functions correctly.

Responsibilities

• Train, monitor, and report on hourly lab workers’ adherence to safety and lab policies/procedures.
• Repair, maintain, and calibrate lab equipment to accepted QA standards.
• Prepare certificates of analysis for all product shipments from the Atalco Alumina facility.
• Develop, maintain, and report monthly on Safety, Environmental, and Quality performance of the lab.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with a strong emphasis in Chemistry.
• Up to 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Up to 10 years of experience with wet chemistry lab processes and analytical instrumentation, including X-Ray spectrometer and diffraction.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret information; write reports and business correspondence; and present information effectively.
• Must successfully complete Atalco Gramercy’s post-offer/acceptance drug screening and physical examination.
• TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) required prior to offer acceptance.
• MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) training to be completed upon hire.

• Fast-paced, high-pressure environment requiring flexibility and resilience.
• Must support plant operations in continuous operation and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• May require travel and on-site presence with affected business units.
• High-visibility role with direct interaction with executive leadership.
