Lab Coordinator - Life Sciences - Intermediate Professional
About the role
The position is a Lab Coordinator - Intermediate Professional in the Eberly College of Science, Department of Biology. This role works closely with biology faculty to prepare and organize teaching laboratories for large multi-section introductory Biology courses.
Responsibilities
- Lead, plan, coordinate, and implement the preparation required by the course curricula.
- Ensure all teaching laboratories are organized and ready for each week's activities.
- Help lead 1-2 laboratory sections per semester.
- Supervise undergraduate wage-payroll assistants.
- Coordinate/schedule teaching resources within a single course or those shared between multiple courses.
- Collect feedback from lab instructors and students, and assist with curricular improvements.
- Support instructors, TAs, and students in ecology and evolution focused lab courses, and physiology focused lab courses.
- Prep and support other core coordinator's molecular-based labs.
- Have experience working in a science laboratory environment and dissection experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
- No required certifications
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to use Microsoft tools and teams, Penn State software, and software used in laboratories
- Attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision
- An interest in pedagogy and the application of research-based teaching methods
Skills
- Experience working in a science laboratory environment
- Dissection experience

Pay
The salary range for this position is $44,628.00 - $64,668.00.
