Lab Coordinator

We are seeking a full-time joint Lab Coordinator to assist with studies of child and adult cognition, including NSF-funded collaborative work on numerical cognition, as well as other general lab duties.

About the role

The Lab Coordinator will support research activities in the Cognitive Development Lab and the Reasoning and Decision Making Lab at Wesleyan University. This is an on-campus position funded for one year with the possibility of extension to a second year. The role offers opportunities to be directly involved in research, earn authorship on journal articles, attend research conferences, and participate in professional development activities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee undergraduate research assistants, including support with study development, data collection/management, statistical analysis, and reporting of findings.
• Recruit and schedule participants.
• Maintain a participant family database.
• Coordinate relationships with local collaboration sites such as children’s museums.
• Manage and analyze data.
• Implement online and in-person studies (study preregistration, IRB submissions, study programming).
• Run participants through studies.
• Support a positive research group culture.
• Conduct literature searches.
• Assist with the preparation of conference abstracts, manuscripts, and grants.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
• Prior research experience in psychological science.
• General computer skills and statistical software experience (such as Microsoft Excel, SPSS, R, Qualtrics).
• Exceptional organizational skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, quantitative skills, and attention to detail.
• Intellectual interest in the labs’ research areas.
• Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact openly with individuals of different backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a developmental psychology lab using experimental methods.
• Programming skills.

Pay

$22.41 - $25.95/hour.
