Lab Coordinator

About the role

Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc., established in 1994, is headquartered in Bridgeville, PA, with plants in North Jackson, OH, Dunkirk, NY, and Titusville, PA. Universal Stainless produces semi-finished and finished specialty steel long products and plate including stainless steel, tool steel, bearing steel, gear steel, and aircraft quality low alloy steels for use in a variety of industries, such as Boeing, Ford, Chrysler, CAT, Toshiba, and GE Energy.

Responsibilities

• Packing and shipping of outside test samples.
• Communicate with inter-department staff to troubleshoot issues.
• Receive and process incoming samples.
• Review, inspect, and document inbound loads.
• Prioritize product workflow on the production floor.
• Traceability and investigation regarding any sample movement.
• Prepare test report and communicate results.
• Use computer scanners and/or software to input test results.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months experience working in a mechanical testing lab preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with various work cells at the mechanical testing lab.
• Knowledge of various test paths in the lab.
• Knowledge of time constraints at various work cells in the lab.
• Ability and familiarity with sample size, orientation, and geometry.
• Knowledge of material properties.
