About the Role
This position supports the R&D Customer Experience Center (CEC) with general lab upkeep and operational efficiency, enabling the broader team to achieve their goals. The candidate will handle day-to-day lab maintenance, organization, and improvements.
Responsibilities
- Maintain all lab equipment, coordinate with facilities and engineering on preventive maintenance, commission new equipment, schedule vendor appointments, and ensure calibration status.
- Manage lab inventory of chemicals, common reagents, small parts, BPCs, non-stock items, and general lab consumables; communicate stocking needs to the inventory management group.
- Organize and apply 5S principles to lab workspaces.
- Assist in routine lab tasks, including glassware cleaning, stocking supplies, biosafety cabinet and incubator maintenance, freezer cleanup, periodic defrosting, and purchasing materials.
- Coordinate with the receiving department to manage shipping and receipt of materials between sites and with clients/vendors.
- Work with Finance to track expenses against the budget and ensure timely invoice payments.
- Collaborate with facilities and safety teams to manage chemical waste pickup and disposal in the lab.
- May assist in preparing chemicals and solutions for the bioprocessing lab using standard formulation sheets.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience (preferred).
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ability to follow standard procedures and protocols.
- Strong prioritization and time-management skills.
- Ability to document tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
Environmental Conditions
- Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
- Exposure to cold rooms/freezers (-22°F / -6°C).
- Laboratory, office, and warehouse settings.
- Required use of PPE (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.).
- Handling of hazardous/toxic materials.
- Occasional work at heights.
