Lab Assistant - West Des Moines (PRN - As Needed)

A day in the life

• Arrives at work in the morning
• Collects, processes, and stores patient samples as per protocol and safety guidelines
• Performs patient testing within specified timelines
• Maintains a clean, safe work environment
• Potential to assist in maintaining equipment, ensuring calibration and maintenance are completed within appropriate time frames
• Consistently meets work schedule demands in the clinic
• Obtains adequate blood specimens from patients using appropriate procedures
• Labs specimens for delivery or transports to appropriate laboratory areas
• Performs laboratory testing utilizing equipment in accordance with Clinic policies and manufacturer guidelines
• Supports collection and processing of specimens via computer functions
• Maintains awareness of own safety in carrying out duties and responsibilities
• Adheres to universal precautions and infection control policies and procedures
• Enhances own knowledge through workshops, in-services, etc.
