Lab Assistant - Prn

Essential Functions

• Verifies patient identification and draws blood from patients of all ages maintaining specimen integrity.
• Labels the drawn blood for processing and enters correct patient information into the LIS.
• Provides assistance with patients' questions and gives instructions on specimen collection and handling.
• Maintains a well-stocked, clean, and orderly work environment.
• Adheres to all safety standards in the handling of biohazardous specimens and contaminated phlebotomy equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• A minimum of one year experience as a phlebotomist, including phlebotomy on all ages and ability to adapt to multiple computer systems preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and data entry skills.
• Knowledge of specimen collection, specimen requirements, specimen integrity, and specimen handling.
