Position Summary

A Laboratory Assistant Non-Technical registers patients/specimens by validating and keying correct demographic and billing information and performs compliant order verification. Orders lab procedures in the LIS. Accessions and processes all types of patient specimens in preparation for testing in the various sections of the laboratory.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
• Experience: Intermediate level of computer knowledge and experience and Phlebotomy experience required
• Licenses/Certifications: Phlebotomy certificate

Preferred Requirements

• Education: N/A
• Experience: Prior laboratory experience or hospital registration experience
• Knowledge: Knowledge of ICD-10 coding, Knowledge of insurance
• Licenses/Certifications: N/A

Registers patients/specimens following all procedures as outlined. Receives, accession, and processes all types of inpatient and outpatient specimens.
