Responsibilities
- Performs routine technical and clerical functions to include specimen registration and billing.
- Performs venipuncture/capillary puncture as assigned; label tubes and specimen containers, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens.
- Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period.
- Assists in microbiology processing and plating specimens, as requested.
- Performs CLIA waived laboratory tests as requested.
Requirements
Education: MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent. PREFERRED EDUCATION: Completion of a Phlebotomy program.
Experience: MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: One year of laboratory experience and/or completion of a formal phlebotomy training program. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience preferred.
Qualifications
- REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Phlebotomy Certification where state law requires
- PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar
