About the role
The role of a Laboratory Assistant I involves receiving and preparing specimens for testing, ensuring timely delivery to appropriate workflows, and maintaining organized sample storage.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed/certified staff in specimen preparation
- Receive and deliver specimens to designated workflows
- Maintain organization of samples through physical and electronic storage/disposal
- Accurately enter patient data into LIMS
- Prepare samples for shipment
- Maintain organization of inventory, materials, and supplies
- Absorb and dispose of lab equipment and benches
- Stay updated on methods relevant to the role
- Complete training and meet deadlines
- Recognize and escalate issues to lead/supervisor
- Participate in continuous improvement projects (TAG, 5S)
- Behave professionally and adhere to departmental expectations
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- Science-related degree preferred
- Less than 1 year industry-related experience preferred
- Complete training on HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedures, and security
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Positive attitude and ability to work well with others
- High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Proficient with Google Suites and Microsoft Office
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Use of a computer keyboard
- Communicate over the telephone
- Read printed material
- Repetitive hand motion may be necessary

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
