About the role
A Lab Assistant I performs phlebotomy and reception duties in a medical setting.
Responsibilities
- Registers and greets patients, reviews and obtains lab orders, posts lab charges, releases lab orders, informs patients, generates and posts bills, and collects payments.
- Performs blood draws accurately and in a timely manner.
- Explains to patients how to collect random or timed urine, sputum, feces, or semen samples accurately.
- Performs other job duties as required by manager or supervisor.
Requirements
- Current Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT-1) certificate issued by the State of California.
- High school certificate or GED required.
- Proficient in using computers.
- 1+ years of experience in a medical setting preferred.
- Experience in a laboratory setting is a plus.
- Knowledge of EPIC system is a plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office is a plus.
- Current documentation of Basic Life Support is required.
Language
- Must be able to read and write English.
- Ability to speak Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) required.
- Fluency in another language is an asset.
Schedule
Part-time.
