About the Role

Provides phlebotomy expertise, decision making, and problem solving skills based on in-depth knowledge of phlebotomy procedures. Performs the collection, receipt in computer, processing, and delivery of patient specimens for tests performed by the laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Collect patient specimens for laboratory testing
  • Process and deliver specimens for lab analysis
  • Utilize computer systems for specimen receipt and tracking
  • Apply phlebotomy expertise and problem-solving skills

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion of an approved phlebotomy training program or one year of proven experience in Hospital, Reference, or Physician Office Lab

Skills

  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Proficiency in personal computer skills

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Frequent prolonged standing/walking
  • Occasional lifting of supplies/equipment up to 25 lbs
  • Continuous need for clear speaking and hearing sensitivity in conversation (phone or in person)
  • Continuous manual dexterity and mobility
  • Frequent reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching
  • Continuous ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less, judge distance and space relationships, bring objects into focus, and distinguish colors
  • Inside environment protected from weather but not temperature changes
  • Minimal noise levels with much exposure to computer work
  • Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock
  • Some exposure to infectious disease, hazardous chemicals, and radiation
  • Travel between facilities as required
