About the role
Actalent is partnering with one of the world's largest diagnostic companies to hire a Lab Assistant I for a high-volume, production-based clinical laboratory. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys fast-paced, hands-on work and wants long-term growth in the medical laboratory field.
Responsibilities
- Specimen handling — Receive, sort, and accurately identify clinical specimens.
- Sample preparation — Prepare specimens for testing and analysis following strict SOPs.
- Data entry — Scan and enter patient/specimen information with high accuracy.
- Equipment upkeep — Verify proper instrument function and perform minor maintenance.
- Issue troubleshooting — Resolve specimen-related problems to maintain workflow.
- Supply management — Replenish bench supplies and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
- Documentation — Complete logs and administrative tasks as needed.
- Safety & quality — Follow all SOPs to uphold quality and compliance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Comfort handling biological specimens.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Ability to sit/stand for extended periods.
- Must pass a standardized color-blindness test.
- Flexibility to work overtime when needed.
- Preferred: prior lab, medical, or production experience.
Work environment
- Professional clinical lab setting with Histology department training.
- Some chemical exposure; full PPE provided.
- Fast-paced, deadline-driven production environment.
- Mix of independent work and team collaboration.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, early morning 3:00 AM – 11:30 AM.

Pay and benefits
Pay: $18.81/hour
