Lab Assistant Float - Clinical Labs

About the role

This is a part-time, 80% FTE, 1st shift position. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, varying start times between 7:45 AM and 9:00 AM, 8-hour shifts. Hours may vary based on department needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standardized and specialized phlebotomy procedures on patients of all ages and ensure proper patient identification and specimen labeling.
  • Complete specimen receiving and processing, load them onto instruments or perform the kit testing, and associated instrument maintenance (temperatures, monitoring reagents) and clerical duties (filing, mailing, faxing).
  • Patient check-in and order entry of laboratory tests in the laboratory information system.
  • Interact daily with pathologists, physicians, technologists, clinical staff, nursing unit personnel, and patients.

Requirements

  • Minimum – High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred – Completion of accredited Phlebotomy Training program and clinical rotation
  • Minimum – Six Months Of Phlebotomy And Specimen Processing Experience
  • Preferred – One year of experience in phlebotomy and processing
  • Preferred – Phlebotomist (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent or Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) certification (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent

Pay

External hires may be eligible for up to a $2,000 sign on bonus Additional compensation components may include: float differential
