About the role
We are seeking a highly organized, efficient and multi-functional lab assistant with excellent communication skills. The ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment, is required. The candidate must possess skills in following policies and procedures, commitment to tasks and attention to detail, decision-making and problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Process specimens from both inpatient and outpatient areas and deliver to the designated core laboratory areas.
- Send and track referred specimens using site batches, worksheets and outstanding specimen reports.
- Use LIS order entry, specimen receipt, report lookup, report printing, and other computer functions.
Requirements
- A high school Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Computer experience and some knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
- Must be able to meet department physical requirements.
- Must be able to work in a noisy, chemically hazardous and biohazardous environment, practicing good safety habits.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills with customers and co-workers.
- Must have the ability to reflect good judgment when determining what action to take when resolving problems.
- Must be able to work well in a stressful environment, under pressure, while maintaining production and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Louisiana State Lab Assistant License is preferred
