Lab Assistant

About the role

The Emotional Lives Lab at UC Riverside is seeking a full-time Lab Assistant to begin on August 15, 2026. The position is for one year.

Responsibilities

• Participant recruitment and screening
• Data collection
• Maintaining research protocols and data storage systems
• Managing teams of research assistants
• Assisting with IRB and other documents
• Maintaining study databases and lab documentation

Requirements

• Undergraduate level statistics course and experience with statistical analysis packages (e.g. Matlab, SPSS, R, Excel, etc.)
• Experience recruiting or scheduling human subjects
• Experience collecting data from human subjects
• Experience collecting and/or analyzing experience sampling data
• Experience conducting independent research in psychology
• Experience working with adults across the lifespan

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated background and passion for research experience in psychology or related fields
• Detail-oriented with outstanding organizational and time management skills

Skills

• Proficiency in conducting statistical analyses with R, or another statistical package
• Proficiency in written and verbal communication in Spanish
• Computer skills such as programming experience in R, Python, or a related programming language

Benefits

The full salary range for the Lab Assistant 1 is $53,766.00 - $62,994.96 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $55,937.52 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
