Mohs Lab Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares Mohs / Excision templates for pt. charts
- Assigns a Mohs number / DAF number for each site to be processed in the Mohs Lab with frozen sections
- Prepares individual patient maps for all first Stage tissue to be processed in the Mohs Lab
- Loads slides on stainer
- Coverslips slides
- Affixes labels for Mohs slides
- Logs stage / slide count information into Mohs log book
- Maintains daily stain (H&E and T-Blue) control documentation
- Maintains copies of blank Mohs maps for future use
- Maintains pre-numbered slides for Mohs / DAF / additional stages
- Files slides weekly
- Prepares embedding slides for next surgery date
- Performs instrument sterilization (as needed)
Pathology Lab Duties and Responsibilities
- Enters pathology results
- Sorts reports
- Enters patient demographics and insurance for outside specimens
- Creates NGP for outside specimens (if applicable)
- Verifies patient insurance prior to sending out
- Sends out slides and reports
- Requests slides and reports from outside institutions/laboratories
- Charges immunofluorescence specimens
- Faxes reports and paperwork for pathologists (as applicable)
- Files requisitions and prepares for scanning
- Answers telephones
- Files slides
- Enters QA slides in Intellipath
- Removes cassettes from embedding center and molds
- Loads and unloads H&E stainer/coverslipper
- Delivers slides with corresponding pathology requisitions to pathologist
- Accessions specimens in Intellipath
- Lables specimen containers and requisitions
- Maintains quality control logs
- Washes and chemically cleans laboratory dishes
- Rotates solutions on H&E stainer
