Responsibilities
- Perform routine and STAT blood collection and specimen processing for all laboratory testing following established procedures.
- Conduct preventive maintenance, humidity, and temperature checks of refrigerators, freezers, heat blocks, and other assigned equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance of centrifuges, hoods, and other laboratory equipment.
- Assist in maintaining phlebotomy and blood collection supplies and other inventory.
Requirements
- Basic phlebotomy skills with certificate.
- Ability to complete duties accurately and efficiently regardless of environmental pressures.
- Sufficient technical knowledge and skills to support the needs of the organization.
- Verbal and written communication skills for effective data/information transfer.
- Demonstrated competency in serving acute care and critical care patients, including completion of the laboratory services population-specific learning module.
- Demonstrated baseline competency in all areas of the indicated skill rosters.
- Valid Phlebotomy Certification from the State of California required.
- Current BLS (AHA) certification required.
Previous experience in a clinical laboratory and high school graduate/equivalent preferred.
