Lab Assistant
About the role
PAML, a Labcorp company, is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team in Spokane, WA. In this role, you will support diagnostic testing and drug development by ensuring specimens are processed accurately and efficiently, maintaining lab equipment, and upholding safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
- Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
- Scan and/or enter specimen and patient information
- Ensure lab equipment is functioning properly and perform minor maintenance
- Troubleshoot specimen-related issues
- Replenish test bench supplies as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Complete record logs and other administrative duties
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Lab Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related science
- 6 months or more of hospital or lab specimen processing experience
- 6 months or more in a clinical or research laboratory

- Comfortable handling biological specimens
- Ability to accurately identify specimens
- Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
- High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turnaround times
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed
- Exceptional customer service
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Comfortable working under minimal supervision
Pay
$18.15 to $25.32 per hour, plus a second shift differential. All job offers are based on skills, prior experience, applicable degrees/certifications, internal equity, and market data.

Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, short-term/long-term disability, 401(k), paid time off (PTO) or flexible time off (FTO), tuition reimbursement, and an employee stock purchase plan. Employees working less than 20 hours, casual, intern, and temporary employees are eligible only for the 401(k) plan. Employees on a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible for all benefits except PTO or FTO.
