About the role

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team in San Diego, CA. This is a Casual/Per Diem position with hours "as needed" and variable start and end times.

Responsibilities

• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
• Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
• Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
• Troubleshoot specimen-related issues
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Comfortability with handling biological specimens
• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed

Qualifications

• Current or prior Labcorp experience (preferred)
• 3 months or more of experience in the healthcare industry, such as a physician's office, clinic, or hospital (preferred)
• 3 months of experience in an assembly or manufacturing production environment (preferred)
• 3 months or more of experience in a medical/clinical laboratory (preferred)

Pay

$17.75 - $20.75 per hour, plus shift differential. Pay is based on a candidate’s skills, prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, internal equity, and market data.

Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are eligible only for the 401(k) Plan. Employees on a 7-on/7-off schedule receive all benefits except PTO or FTO.
