Position Overview
We are seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team at Gateway Regional Medical Center. This position is PRN and located at 2100 Madison Ave., Granite City, IL.
Responsibilities
- All aspects of collection and processing of biological specimens for clinical laboratory testing
- Maintain the Mission and Values of Gateway Regional Medical Center
- Read and understand written data and medical terminology
- Possess good verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all age groups
- Demonstrate the ability to perform all specimen processing functionalities
- Data entry skills are required
- Order and report distribution skills are essential
- Display professional customer service skills and maintain a positive attitude
- Absorb and retain policy, procedure, and computer training
- Afford support and perform other tasks as necessary to ensure continuity of patient care
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program or equivalent
- Board accredited phlebotomy certification or equivalent
- Current Basic Life Support (AHA or American Red Cross BLS) certification within 3 months
- Ability to read and understand written data and medical terminology
- Possess good verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all age groups
- Demonstrate the ability to perform all specimen processing functionalities
- Data entry skills are required
- Order and report distribution skills are essential
- Professional customer service skills and positive attitude required
- Display ability to learn and retain policy, procedure, and computer training

Pay
The pay range for this position is $17.50- 26.24 per hour. Final compensation package will be discussed with Human Resources to ensure fairness and alignment with the candidate's qualifications.
