Lab Assistant

Position Overview

We are seeking a Lab Assistant to join our team at Gateway Regional Medical Center. This position is PRN and located at 2100 Madison Ave., Granite City, IL.

Responsibilities

• All aspects of collection and processing of biological specimens for clinical laboratory testing
• Maintain the Mission and Values of Gateway Regional Medical Center
• Read and understand written data and medical terminology
• Possess good verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all age groups
• Demonstrate the ability to perform all specimen processing functionalities
• Data entry skills are required
• Order and report distribution skills are essential
• Display professional customer service skills and maintain a positive attitude
• Absorb and retain policy, procedure, and computer training
• Afford support and perform other tasks as necessary to ensure continuity of patient care

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program or equivalent
• Board accredited phlebotomy certification or equivalent
• Current Basic Life Support (AHA or American Red Cross BLS) certification within 3 months
• Ability to read and understand written data and medical terminology
• Possess good verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all age groups
• Demonstrate the ability to perform all specimen processing functionalities
• Data entry skills are required
• Order and report distribution skills are essential
• Professional customer service skills and positive attitude required
• Display ability to learn and retain policy, procedure, and computer training

Pay

The pay range for this position is $17.50- 26.24 per hour. Final compensation package will be discussed with Human Resources to ensure fairness and alignment with the candidate's qualifications.
