Lab Aide
Overview
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute‑designated cancer center in Washington. The Talbot Lab (Basic Sciences Division) seeks a reliable, organized, detail‑oriented individual to support ongoing research on neuro‑immunology, gut microbiota, and infectious diseases, with an emphasis on mouse models for biomedical research.
Responsibilities
- Assist with regular maintenance of the mouse colony, including animal biopsy, breeding, and weaning.
- Maintain electronic spreadsheets for the mouse colony.
- General lab cleaning and organization.
- Assist lab members with experiments.
- Perform other duties as required.

- Work collaboratively within the Talbot Lab and with Hutch and external collaborators.
- Show respect to all members of the lab and the broader Hutch community.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent with an interest in the sciences (minimum).
- Completion of college‑level coursework in biology (preferred).
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree (preferred).
- Attention to detail and accurate record‑keeping skills.
- Basic computer skills and comfort with learning new software systems.
- Familiarity with Excel spreadsheets.
- Ability to learn new tools and content quickly and independently.
- Strong communication skills.
Pay
The hourly pay range for this position is from $21.30 to $30.13, based on experience and qualifications.
Although Fred Hutch is not sponsoring most H‑1B visas at this time, candidates who already hold an H‑1B sponsored by another organization and are currently in the U.S. may be eligible for this position.
