Contract position based in Hermiston, OR.
About the role
Upgrade older server rooms tied to critical facilities infrastructure such as heating and cooling systems. The project involves decommissioning work with a strong focus on safety, including cable termination and handling servers with high electricity levels that must be powered off during upgrades to prevent injury.
Responsibilities
- Perform installation, routing, termination, labeling, and testing of copper and fiber cabling systems in accordance with ANSI/TIA standards.
- Support rack integration, device mounting, cable management, and connectivity for network and technology infrastructure environments.
- Validate installations through inspection, certification, and testing procedures.
- Execute equipment staging, asset labeling, site preparation, and deployment activities.
- Maintain accurate labeling, documentation, and installation quality while ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Support all phases of installation projects, collaborating with project teams to meet timelines, quality standards, and customer requirements.
- Follow workplace safety requirements, installation best practices, and quality assurance processes.
- Interact daily with site leadership and internal/external stakeholders.
- Document processes and confirm established methodology for tracking and validating deployment success.
- Manage onsite relationships with multiple internal and external teams during system implementation.
- Prioritize tasks and adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment.
- Escalate issues and troubleshoot as needed.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of data center cabling experience.
- Valid driver’s license in the United States.
- Ability to work independently and within large teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven record of driving success and delivering results by removing barriers.
- Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills, both independently and in team settings.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively and escalate issues when needed.
- Familiarity with fast-growing companies and associated deadlines.
- Desire to coach, mentor, lead, and grow.
- Comfortable in high-pressure, tightly managed projects and construction-based environments.
- Capable of extensive physical activity, including standing for 75% of the time, lifting up to 50 pounds, and walking long distances.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of industry experience in construction, low voltage, security installation, cabling, telecom, hardware technician, or deployment and implementation roles.
Skills
- Structured cabling installation (copper and fiber).
- Network infrastructure deployment (rack integration, device mounting, cable management).
- Standards compliance and testing (ANSI/TIA).
- Installation and staging support (equipment staging, asset labeling, site preparation).
- Attention to detail (labeling, documentation, quality assurance).
- Data center and telecommunications experience (MDF/IDF installations, structured cabling environments).
- Project execution and team collaboration.
- Safety and quality focus.
- Clear communication and process documentation.
- Cabling, break/fix, rack and stack.
Pay
$30.00 - $30.00/hr.
