About the role

As a Journey-Level IT Application Developer within the Applications & Data Management (A&DM) team, you will contribute to building and maintaining advanced web capabilities that directly impact the safety and health of Washington State’s 3.3 million workers. You’ll work within an Agile/Scrum framework using Azure DevOps to deliver quality applications, while collaborating with developers, analysts, and program staff to meet business requirements and technical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, maintain, and improve applications that support agency programs, including application interfaces and web services.
  • Translate business requirements into application features and provide technical guidance to management on work coordination.
  • Develop prototypes, analyze and troubleshoot technology issues, and resolve problems related to applications, platforms, or hardware.
  • Participate in Incident Response and Problem Management teams to identify solutions.
  • Follow the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to plan, analyze, design, develop, and test applications and interfaces.
  • Document technical specifications, network diagrams, application functionality, deployment plans, and release notes.
  • Research complex technical issues related to application development, databases, performance, security, and data integrity.
  • Stay current with technical trends and evaluate emergent technologies for potential implementation.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Eight (8) years of professional experience developing and enhancing applications using:
    • Languages and tools such as Visual Studio, C#, VB.Net, ASP.Net, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, jQuery, MVC, WPF, ADO, WCF, JSON
    • Database code using T-SQL, stored procedures, and Entity Framework
    • Unit testing and development standards in a managed environment
  • OR a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Computer Programming, or a closely aligned field AND four (4) years of recent professional experience in the above areas
  • OR an associate’s degree in a related field AND six (6) years of recent professional experience in the above areas
