KS1 Class Teacher - Maternity Cover

Responsibilities

• Deliver a broad, ambitious and knowledge‑rich curriculum within a mixed‑age Year 1/2 classroom.
• Use assessment effectively to identify pupils' next steps, provide timely support and challenge, and ensure all children become confident, fluent readers.
• Provide rich experiences across the wider curriculum that spark curiosity, promote creativity and help children make meaningful connections in their learning.
• Create a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment where children feel safe, valued and inspired to achieve their very best.

Requirements

• Ambitious, nurturing and skilled practitioner with a passion for Key Stage 1 education.
• High expectations for all pupils.
• Strong understanding of early reading and phonics.
• Secure understanding of the teaching of phonics and early reading, recognising the importance of building strong foundations in literacy.
• Ability to use assessment effectively to identify pupils' next steps and provide timely support and challenge.
