Special Education Teacher position with the Hawaii State Department of Education.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (required for all teacher, librarian, or counselor positions, except designated Career and Technology Education roles).
- Valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit upon hire. If hired without completing a Teacher’s Education Program, you must enroll in and complete a program within 3 years to maintain employment.
- Active pursuit of Hawaii licensing requirements each year of employment, as set by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB).
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.
Preferred Qualifications
- Special education classroom experience in a K-12 school setting.
- Experience planning and facilitating Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings.
- Ability to exercise independent and professional judgment in daily functions.
- Strong time-management skills to maintain an effective work pace under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Capacity to grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively.
- Collaborative mindset with a track record of working effectively with others.

Pay
