About the role
The Hawaii State Department of Education seeks to hire a Social Studies Inclusion teacher to support students with special needs in a K-12 school setting.
Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings
- Exercise independent and professional judgment in carrying out daily functions
- Maintain an effective work pace under pressure to meet deadlines
- Grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively
- Work effectively with others
Requirements
- Valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board
- Desired Experience: Special education classroom experience in a K-12 school setting
- Desired Knowledge: Plan and facilitate IEP meetings; exercise independent and professional judgment; maintain an effective work pace under pressure; grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively; work effectively with others
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (with the exception of designated Career and Technology Education positions)
- Maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license after hire
- Must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the Department
- Must demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements
- Must have a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit upon hire
