About the role

The Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate position is based at James Walker Sealing Systems in Bingley, working alongside the Power Electronics and Electric Machines Group at WMG, University of Warwick. The role involves developing a smart mechanical stress monitoring system, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and creating a viable, commercially acceptable remote monitoring system.

Responsibilities

• Work on remote monitoring instrumentation using best practice communications protocols, hardware development, and validation.
• Create a viable, commercially acceptable remote monitoring system that measures mechanical stress, collects data, and communicates to a central computing facility.
• Apply the product to renewables, power generation, and heavy industry applications.

Requirements

• Electronics engineer with a degree in electrical or electronics engineering or a similar discipline.
• Broad experience of product hardware and software design, including system modeling, circuit design, and communications theory.
• Project delivery and engineering expertise in industry and/or academia.
• Ability to make best use of state-of-the-art research facilities.
• Know-how in Design for Manufacture, service, and end-of-life, including familiarity with appropriate HSE and WEEE regulations.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a degree in electrical or electronics engineering or a similar discipline, broad experience of product hardware and software design, including system modeling, circuit design, and communications theory, project delivery and engineering expertise in industry and/or academia, and the ability to make best use of state-of-the-art research facilities.
