The Role

Our partner is a premium knitwear manufacturer based in Donegal, Ireland, producing high-quality garments inspired by Irish heritage. Combining traditional craftsmanship with advanced knitting technology, they create exceptional knitwear for customers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Program garment styles using Shima Seiki APEX 3 and APEX 4 systems
- Translate design sketches and technical packs into machine-ready knitting programmes
- Develop samples to ensure fit, structure, and quality standards are achieved
- Collaborate closely with design and production teams to refine garment construction
- Optimise programmes for efficiency, yarn utilisation, and production performance
- Troubleshoot technical and programming issues on flatbed knitting machines
- Maintain and update programme files and technical documentation
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Knitwear Programmer or Knitting Technician
- Strong working knowledge of Shima Seiki flatbed knitting machines (5GG preferred)
- Hands-on experience with APEX 3 and/or APEX 4 software
- Ability to interpret garment designs and understand knit construction
- Strong knowledge of yarns, gauges, and knit structures
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- EU passport or permit to work in Ireland
Desirable Skills
- Experience with WHOLEGARMENT programming
- Background in premium or luxury knitwear manufacturing
- Experience working with wool and natural fibres
- Knowledge of garment fitting and pattern adjustments
- A willingness to learn and develop professionally
