About the role

The Kitchen Tech I position is responsible for assisting in the kitchen where the company produces edible marijuana products. This entry-level position focuses on assisting the lead(s), supervisor, and manager in the direct operation of kitchen equipment and creation of Marijuana Edibles.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out tasks accurately and strictly following SOP’s including but not limited to:
    • General Housekeeping (dish, mop, sweep, surface cleaning, dusting, trash disposal)
    • Sugaring Gummies (running sugar tumbler, sorting, quality control checks)
    • Demolding Gummies
    • Depositing Gummies (set up/break down, depositing, swapping pistons, changing O-rings, troubleshooting, stirring)
    • Receiving Orders (stocking, FIFO, inventory checks)
    • Packaging Gummies (hand packing, counting, check-weigh, band sealing)
  • Follows and ensures strict safety procedures and safety checks.
  • Flexibility to help in other GDF departments when needed.
  • Operates kitchen machinery, follows strict safety protocols set forth by the company.
  • Follows cleaning schedule/regimen.
  • Ensures all workspaces are well-stocked and resourced.
  • Maintains kitchen small wares by picking-up, cleaning, washing, and distributing.
  • Keeps kitchen equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; informing supervisors of the need for repairs.
  • Uses effective forms of communication to address and handle situations.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain a state medical marijuana badge and pass a background check.
  • Must have strong communication skills with the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats.
  • Should have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and management, and to approach conflict or disagreement constructively.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to understand and work within the strict confines of the laws set forth by the state with regards to its legal medical program.
  • Understanding of the variety of tasks required in working in a lab or manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year(s) experience in food handling related field is preferred, but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.
  • The ability to sit or stand for up to 12 hours at a time.
  • The ability to work in hot/humid conditions.
  • Lifting, standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, push/pull, repetitive use of hands, grasping use of hands, visual activity
  • The ability to complete fine motor functions.
