Responsibilities
- Lead a high-quality, cost-effective kitchen operation and food preparation.
- Collaborate on a variety of balanced, appealing menus, including National School Lunch Program compliant options.
- Maintain strong customer and staff communication to improve service quality, resolve issues, and support new services.
- Direct, schedule, train, supervise, evaluate, coach, and develop assigned staff; ensure roles and accountability are clear.
- Ensure all food safety and kitchen safety procedures are followed.
- Perform all food production tasks and cover for absent staff to support daily meals.
- Manage ordering, receiving, inventory, and quality control; complete inspection checklists.
- Establish and maintain effective daily communication with kitchen personnel to ensure all kitchens are equipped with the necessary resources and ingredients to execute the menu accurately.
- Assist kitchen staff with transportation to work locations by 6:30 am
Qualifications
- A High School diploma or GED equivalent
- At least three (3) years of documented food service supervisor experience in a K-12 or similar culinary environment
- A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy
- Prior experience must evidence supervisory skills and knowledge of food preparation, and quality control procedures
- The ability to operate basic office equipment and software programs to include email, Excel, Word, etc.
