About the role

The Kitchen Manager ensures the overall flow, function, cleanliness, and safety of the kitchen and dining area, following all safety and cleanliness guidelines per local board of health, OSHA, and LHBS.

Responsibilities

  • Orders food inventory from contracted vendors while remaining within the allotted weekly budget.
  • Plans a weekly menu of well-balanced, nutritional meals.
  • Prepares, cooks, and transports well-balanced meals and snacks, ensuring proper taste and temperature.
  • Prepares meals for special occasions and holidays.
  • Inspects food prior to serving for proper quality and quantity.
  • Ensures proper food presentation.
  • Orders and maintains kitchen supplies in collaboration with program directors.
  • Takes necessary measures to avoid food waste.
  • Maintains a clean kitchen and dining area, adhering to kitchen cleanliness and sanitation guidelines per local board of health.
  • Maintains and ensures refrigerator temperature logs.
  • Assigns daily duties to cooks and kitchen helpers.
  • Participates in regular supervision meetings with direct supervisor.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with food distributors.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the dining area.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED with a minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
  • Documented evidence of training in nutrition/menu planning.
  • Serve Safe Certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Ability to relate to a substance abuse treatment population in a sensitive manner.
  • Interest and willingness to work in a multicultural setting.
  • Customer service orientation.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $23.53 - $28.68 per hour. Actual compensation is determined based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geography, job responsibilities, and other applicable factors. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other additional pay practices.

Requirements

As a health care organization, Beth Israel Lahey Health requires all staff to be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.
