About the role
The Kitchen Shift Leader (1) oversees the daily shift operation of the Kitchen in the Diner or Deli. This position reports directly to the Restaurant General Manager (primary) & Travel Plaza Manager (secondary) & any senior management.
Responsibilities
- Maintains and reviews all sales and volume reports to plan and communicate all the needs of the business.
- Trains all new and current cashiers, maintenance, and restaurant staff including servers, Restaurant cashiers, and Deli staff.
- Communicates customer/employee requests to Restaurant General Manager (primary) & Travel Plaza Manager (secondary) and stays informed of any changes in operating procedures.
- Ensures adherence to all applicable operating policies and procedures without deviation.
- Maintains the physical condition of the premises in a safe, healthy manner.
- Ensures that all prepared food products meet the established specifications and standards.
- Ensures prompt delivery and expediting of food as needed.
- Ensures the appropriate and required level of production to meet business needs.
- Completes required daily reports to ensure the appropriate ordering and stocking of food products.
- Maintains a clean, safe work environment before, during, and after service, in a team effort to maximize employee efficiency and guest satisfaction.
- Supports all other Diner/Travel Plaza managers in achieving their goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years verifiable related employment experience in restaurant required, supervisory experience preferred.
- Verifiable experience in implementing and maintaining food production operational standards.
- Working knowledge of computers with the ability to work in a Windows environment with various software programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to operate and use all equipment and register system necessary to run the 24-hr. Diner.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Demonstrated ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation.
- Willingness to work irregular hours/days as business dictates.
- Ability to work odd, irregular hours in a restaurant environment that is open seven days/week.
- Ability to comply with all other requirements as specified within the CIEDA Personnel Policies and Procedures.
Qualifications
- Internal Promotion: Must complete 90-day probation period, Kitchen Shift Leader (1) 6 months on dinner line, 6 months on Deli line be certified in all positional requirements, pass interview, & positional slot is available to move to Kitchen Shift Leader (2).
