About the role

Join the team at YMCA Camp Collins as a Kitchen Assistant! This is your chance to share your experience, talents, and passion for food with our campers, staff, families, and retreat guests. Our meal service is a vital part of our camper and guest experience. YMCA Camp Collins is nestled in the trees in Gresham, OR along the banks of the beautiful Sandy River.

Responsibilities

• Help prepare healthy and appealing meals in a timely manner
• Perform kitchen cleaning duties such as operation of the dishwasher, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces
• Communicate effectively with other members of the food services team
• Operate food preparation utensils, such as knives and peelers, requiring excellent hand/eye coordination
• Operate industrial food preparation equipment requiring excellent hand/eye coordination and ability to comprehend operation safety instructions
• Practice and promote cleanliness, proper food handling, as well as proper recycling/composting & trash disposal
• This position may have some weekend responsibilities

Requirements

• Must pass YMCA background check
• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Participate in all assigned, job-related trainings
• CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers certifications or ability to acquire within 30 days of employment

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior work experience with food service
• Reliable transportation to work location

Schedule

Minimum of 3-day work week, 24+ hours per week, scheduled with supervisor.
