Job Details
Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Food and Nutrition, this position supports the operations of the Department of Food and Nutrition. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness, operating the dishwasher, preparing food, and managing catering events.
- Cleans and sanitizes Kitchen, Café, and Storage areas
- Follows safety procedures to ensure all areas are safe
- Leaves kitchen and Café in a clean and sanitary condition following service
- Removes trash from all Kitchen and Café areas regularly and brings it to the dumpster
- Supervises volunteers in the dishroom to ensure safety and sanitation policies are followed
- Cleans and sanitizes Grease Interceptor daily after dinner service
- Cleans and sanitizes dishes using the dishwasher or triple sink method
- Pre-washes and soaks dishes as needed
- Returns clean and sanitized dishes and kitchenware to their correct place
- Checks Med Surg, ICU, and Emergency Department for soiled patient dishes and returns them to the dishroom
- Performs prep duties as instructed by the First Cook
- Assists in plating food and putting away Food Stores
- Manages time to ensure on-time delivery of all catering orders
- Places finished Function requests in the correct folder upon completion of pick-up

- Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Possesses the necessary physical requirements to safely perform the essential functions of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, and possesses the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word, receive detailed information through oral communication, communicate effectively with co-workers, and express information in a clear, concise, and accurate manner
- Qualifications: On-the-job training provided, Serv-Safe certification maintained or obtained within 6 months of employment
