Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks to Club members ages 6-18 as part of BGCB’s school-year and summer food programs.
  • Follow applicable USDA, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, local board of health, food safety, and sanitation requirements.
  • Follow established menus, portion sizes, meal patterns, allergen precautions, and dietary accommodation procedures.
  • Maintain accurate daily meal counts, temperature logs, production records, and other required program documentation.
  • Report food safety concerns, injuries, accidents, equipment issues, and other concerns promptly to the supervisor.
  • Auxiliary supervision and redirection of members participating in kitchen, cafeteria, or culinary activities as appropriate.
  • Safeguard and maintain kitchen equipment, supplies, food, cleaning materials, and other resources belonging to the culinary program.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen, cafeteria, storage, and food preparation.
  • Follow established procedures for food storage, inventory rotation, waste reduction, cleaning, and prevention of allergen cross-contact.
  • Know safety and emergency procedures and enforce applicable rules and protocols to support the safety of members, staff, and food-service operations.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation, food safety, and sanitation practices.
  • At least one year of experience in food service, meal preparation, kitchen operations, or a similar setting.
  • ServSafe certified or willing to obtain certification upon hire.
  • CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Experience and desire to work with children and teens.
  • Organized, reliable, and able to maintain accurate records and follow established procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Able to follow allergen precautions and support dietary recommendations.
  • Able to work clubhouse hours, including afternoon and evening hours during the school year and morning or early afternoon hours during the summer.
