Kinship Navigator I

About the role

At Wayfinder Family Services, the Kinship Support Services Program provides navigation assistance to grandparents, extended family members, or close family friends who raise children to prevent separation from birth family, and also supports voluntary kinship families. The program offers counseling, basic‑needs assistance, support groups, workshops, respite resources, and more, helping kinship families stay stable and maintain family connections for better long‑term outcomes. The Kinship Navigator I provides family support and case management, develops and coordinates family service plans, assesses needs, and connects families to kinship resources.

Responsibilities

• Orients and educates parents with the program.
• Plans and attends social events for families.
• Conducts assessments to identify family needs.
• Provides case management for an average of 8‑10 families.
• Develops appropriate family service plans.
• Makes appropriate referrals to community resources.
• Provides emotional support to families.
• Assists families in locating funding for services when possible.
• Maintains records of all services provided and documents assessments, meetings, decisions, and reports.
• Performs other duties as outlined in the position description.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited college preferred; a bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field with related experience will be considered.
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
• Knowledge of crisis intervention and the unique needs of kinship care highly desired.
• Valid California Driver License with a minimum of three (3) years good driving history and approval by the agency’s insurance carrier to drive agency vehicles.

Pay

The hourly wage range for this role is $28.00 – $31.00.
